By using the website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please stop using it.
We take reasonable care to keep the website accurate, but its content is general information and may change. It is not legal, medical or vessel-specific safety advice and does not replace a competent risk assessment, professional judgement, applicable regulations or manufacturer instructions.
You may view and print website content for legitimate personal or business reference. You must not misuse the website, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious code, or reproduce substantial content for commercial use without permission.
Unless stated otherwise, Maritime Systems Ltd owns or licenses the website content, product names, designs, software, graphics and documentation. No intellectual-property rights are transferred by access to the website.
As between the Customer and Maritime Systems Ltd, the Customer retains ownership of the vessel telemetry, journey records, configuration information and other data supplied by or collected on behalf of the Customer through the VIMMS products and services (“Customer Data”).
To allow effective provision of service, the Customer grants Maritime Systems Ltd a non-exclusive licence to host, copy, process and analyse Customer Data to provide, secure, maintain and support the VIMMS products and services.
Maritime Systems Ltd will not publish, sell or disclose Customer Data, or publish information identifying a Customer, vessel, person, individual voyage, route or commercially sensitive operating pattern, without the Customer’s prior written agreement.
Any information published or shared outside Maritime Systems Ltd for research, technical, statistical or commercial purposes must be aggregated or effectively anonymised so that the Customer, its vessels, personnel, voyages and routes cannot reasonably be identified.
Maritime Systems Ltd will not attempt to re-identify an individual or Customer from effectively anonymised information and will apply reasonable safeguards intended to prevent other parties from doing so.
Maritime Systems Ltd owns:
No ownership of Customer Data transfers to Maritime Systems Ltd under this clause. Derived information must not enable a recipient to extract or reconstruct identifiable Customer Data.
Maritime Systems Ltd may retain effectively anonymised and aggregated information after the Customer’s subscription or agreement ends. Identifiable Customer Data will be retained, returned and deleted in accordance with the applicable agreement, data-processing terms and retention policy.
Maritime Systems Ltd may create controlled research datasets after removing names, account details, vessel identifiers, personnel identifiers and other information that directly identifies the Customer or an individual.
Maritime Systems Ltd may use those datasets internally for statistical analysis, technical research, benchmarking, validation and the development, testing and improvement of its products, analytical methods, algorithms and predictive capabilities.
This right does not include the use of medical records, cognitive-assessment results or other special-category personal data for independent research or development unless that use has been separately agreed and is supported by an appropriate lawful basis and privacy information.
These provisions survive termination of the agreement.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, Maritime Systems Ltd is not responsible for loss caused by reliance on general website content, third-party websites, or events outside our reasonable control.
Purchases, subscriptions, consultancy and data-processing services are governed by the quotation, order, licence, service terms or data-processing agreement agreed with the customer. Website content does not itself form a contract or offer.
